Have you ever felt your steering wheel shake while driving, especially at higher speeds? This vibration is often caused by an unbalanced wheel. Tires and wheels are not perfectly even in weight. A slightly heavier area will cause the wheel to wobble as it spins. This is where wheel weights come in.
Wheel weights are small metal pieces we attach to your wheel rim. They balance out the weight distribution. When a technician balances your tire, a machine spins it to find the light spots. They then attach weights to the opposite side to create a perfect balance. A balanced wheel spins smoothly, eliminating vibration.
There are two main types: clip-on and adhesive weights. Clip-on weights have a metal clip that attaches to the edge of the wheel rim. They are strong and reliable, perfect for most standard steel wheels. Adhesive weights, or tape weights, have a strong sticky back. They are applied to the inside of the wheel rim. We use them mostly for alloy wheels because they do not scratch the visible surface.
Why is this so important? First, your safety and comfort. Vibration is not just annoying; it strains your vehicle's suspension parts. Over time, it can lead to premature wear of shocks, struts, and wheel bearings. Second, it saves you money. An unbalanced tire does not make even contact with the road. This causes uneven and faster tire wear, meaning you must replace your tires sooner.
Using high-quality, accurate weights is essential. Poor-quality weights can fall off or are not precisely made, leading to poor balance. Our wheel weights are made to the highest standards for exact weight and strong adhesion. They ensure a smooth, safe, and comfortable ride and help your tires last longer.
